Paul Elliott CBE

Ambassador

Paul is an Ambassador for the DIVERT Project. His focus is on introducing and promoting the DIVERT project to key stakeholders ensuring they achieve maximum reach and effectiveness.

Paul was a professional footballer and represented England at all age levels. He started his career at Charlton Athletic and then played for Luton, Aston Villa, Pisa, Celtic and Chelsea.

Following his playing successes, Paul worked within football governance and is the Chairman of the FA’s Inclusion Advisory Board. He has served on the Board of Trustees for the Professional Footballers Association and the UEFA Football Committee.

His commitment to youth football and anti-racism was recognised by the award of a CBE in 2012.

The FA fully supports the DIVERT initiative and recognises the importance that sport, and in particular football, can play in diverting young adults from the cycle of crime into sustainable employment.  We will continue our support for DIVERT as it expands into further London Boroughs intervening with young adults in custody and providing them with opportunities to change their lives.
