Gavin James

CIC – Wycombe Wanderers FC

Gavin started his career coaching within Wycombe’s Football in the Community programme, before spending four years in the fitness industry. During that time he graduated from Bucks New University with a Sports Management degree.

Having spent time working in the PE departments in both a mainstream school and pupil referral unit, Gavin discovered a passion for community and sport development.

He successfully delivered Slough Borough Council’s Sport England funded ‘Get Active’ programme, which engaged young people between the ages of 14-25 in sport and physical activity. The programme developed into the ‘Active Slough’ programme which delivered 80 weekly sessions to all residents in the Borough. Most recently, Gavin worked as a Community Sports Manager for Greenwich Leisure Limited covering the communities in the Chilterns.

Outside of work Gavin has a passion for football. After being released from Wycombe Wanderers at 18, he has played semi-professionally for the past 10 years, winning the FA Vase at Wembley in 2018 with Thatcham Town FC.

He has also played International football; representing Saint Vincent and the Grenadines National team 9 times, including home and away fixtures against the USA for the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

If he’s not playing or watching football, in his spare time you might find him on a golf course, watching Netflix or listening to music.
